Dear Friends of MSU:

Our University has evolved and changed over the last several years. Through these changes, we have been presented with and dealt with some challenges, and worked to overcome these challenges while neither sacrificing academic quality nor service to our students, and to continue our mission of providing an opportunity to access education and fulfill both personal and professional goals.

We were recently informed that on June 23, 2011, our regional accrediting body, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), voted to issue a Show Cause Order. This order requires that we prepare and submit a report to the HLC by December 01, 2011 which demonstrates and provides evidence the University has addressed the concerns identified in the Order. Subsequent to the submission of the report, the University will undergo a Show Cause visit by February 2012 to validate the contents and evidence of the report. After a review of the University's report, the Show Cause Visit report, and the University's response to the visit report, the HLC's Board will take action at their June 2012 meeting regarding the accreditation status of Mountain State University. The University remains accredited through the Show Cause period. 

As we prepare the report over the next four months, we will continue to make improvements and strengthen our processes as we work to address the concerns of the HLC. Our report will demonstrate that with these changes and improvements, we can sustain the progress we have made and will continue to make as we move the University forward.
